Saturday, October 26th
10:00am – 1:00pm
Mawignack Preserve, 52 Snake Rd. Catskill, NY
Get some fresh air, enjoy the crisp fall weather, and plant some native trees!
Join Greene Land Trust and Scenic Hudson this Saturday, October 26th, for our tree planting event at Mawignack Preserve. We will be planting 165 trees, including maples, oaks, river birches, willows, and other native trees.
This tree planting is part of a multi-year effort to reforest large portions of former agricultural land within the 100-year flood plain of the Catskill Creek. Restoring the floodplain forest will help increase biodiversity at Mawignack, as well as assist in reducing flood damage downstream by effectively storing flood waters.
If you would like to help, please remember to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, and bring work gloves.
