September 10, 2022: History of Slavery at the Willows

Did the William Brandow family and their neighbors rely on enslaved people to work their land?  What do we know about the enslaved population of the Hudson Valley, their lives, and their quest for freedom?

Join us at the Willows on September 10th when Jonathan Palmer, Greene County Historian will provide an introductory presentation on the complex topic of the history of enslavement in Greene County.

The Willows is an historic farmhouse built around 1788 and is listed on the National State Register of Historic Places. In addition to learning about the history of slavery in the area, you will have a chance to explore the house and peek into the surviving outbuildings.

Admission is free. Pre-registration is requested. Donations to the Greene Land Trust will be accepted during the event.
