The Greene Land Trust and the Coxsackie YMCA will host three outings for families and friends this fall. While the guided walks are FREE, please register so we have an idea of how many people to expect.
Saturday October 19, 10 AM -- Mawignack Preserve, Snake Road, Catskill, NY. This hike will be led by GLT volunteer, George Greiner. George has a wealth of historic information about the property. The hike is approximately 1 mile and is generally easy. Most of it is on the flood plain of the Catskill Creek and on the old railroad bed of the historic Catskill Mountain Railroad. There is a steep, but relatively short hill near the parking lot. (Easy going down, but less so coming back up!)
Saturday October 26, 10 AM -- Hannacroix Creek Preserve, Rt 144 New Baltimore. This hike will be led by Janet Angelis, GLT board member and resident of New Baltimore. A slightly longer hike than the previous one, but a wonderful walk through the woods and along portions of the Hannacroix Creek. There are a few hills, but generally an easy walk.
Saturday November 2, 10 AM -- Willows at Brandow Point to Cohotate Preserve (and back). Meet at the Willows at Brandow Point, 480 Rt. 385 Athens. This is the longest of the three hikes and will be led by GLT board member Joel DuBois. Trail runs from the DEC Brandow Point Unique Area across some privately owned land and connects with the county-owned Cohotate Preserve. On return to the Willows, hot chocolate and refreshments will be served in the historic 1788 house owned by the Greene Land Trust.
