"The Birds and the Trees - and Oh-My, More"

A fall family educational event to explore the outdoors with well-known bird expert Rich Guthrie. Rich is heard regularly on WAMC.

The four-part program is designed to increase your knowledge and appreciation of our natural environment and fall migration habits of bird species.

The first session will be an indoor, introductory session.  The following three sessions will be field trips to various sites owned or managed by the Greene Land Trust in Greene County. 

Schedule:

Session 1 Friday Evening September 21, at the Willows, 480 Rt 385 Athens

Session 2 Saturday Morning September 22 – field trip TBD

Session 3 Saturday Morning October 13 – field trip TBD

Session 4 Saturday Morning October 20 – field trip TBD

The cost is $20 per adult for the series.  Children with adult(s) are free.

Join us for an afternoon of music at the Willows at Brandow Point.

The event will kick off at 2 PM with music by Wickers Creek Band.  They performs an eclectic mix of traditional American music, primarily in the Bluegrass tradition. The five-person group sings in close, blended harmonies backed up by varying combinations of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobor and bass. The band's repertoire includes classic and contemporary Bluegrass, country and Appalachian music, with a dollop of French Canadian, Celtic and New England dance tunes thrown in for good measure.performs an eclectic mix of traditional American music, primarily in the Bluegrass tradition. They will be followed by Breakneck Ridge Revue , a folk "jam band" of Hudson Valley musicians building twangy but danceable sets around a mix of traditional and original songs ranging from blues to folk to rock -- from John Prine to the Beatles -- but always with a homegrown feel.

Food and beverages will be available from local vendors including Crossroads Brewery and Fernwood Restaurant.  

Tickets are $20 per person. 

$15 per person if a member of the Greene Land Trust.
