GLT is pleased to announce that it has received a grant to create a Natural Resource Inventory (NRI)) for Greene County. The NRI will help prioritize projects that will most benefit the protection of sensitive habitats, increase resilience, and improve the overall health of the watershed within Greene County. The project will also identify conservation priorities that GLT use will to consider land conservation opportunities we should pursue. This will help us assure that we use your donations are used effectively. GLT Receives Grant from Hudson River Estuary Program
Scenic Hudson acquired 145 scenic acres along Catskill Creek that have been developed by Greene Land Trust to offer new opportunities for outdoor recreation close to the Village of Catskill.
The Greene Land Trust, in cooperation with Scenic Hudson, celebrated the official opening of the trails at this property on May 12, 2018 with a ribbon cutting, brief comments from local officials, refreshments, and one mile hike.
We had a great turnout for our annual birdhouse building event in 2018 with 40+ kids of all ages coming to the Willows to build a birdhouse and birdfeeder to take home, take a hike, learn to use binoculars, and roll down the hill.
Thanks to the Athens Sportsmen’s Club for preparing the birdhouse kits and helping with the building. And thanks to the Athens Community Foundation for helping the Sportsmen pay for the materials.
